PlantG4DB: A Database of G-Quadruplex Sequences in Plants

Mountain View

FAQs

Q1. What is PlantG4DB?

PlantG4DB is an online, open source database to predict G-Quadruplexes forming sequences in Plants.

Q2. How this database is useful?

This Database can be used to search and predict G-quadruplexes forming sequences in Plants which will help experimental biologists to cut down time and cost efforts by providing a downsized set for validation in various biological processes.

Q3. What is the difference between already available database of Plant gunine rich quadruplex?

There are multiple search parameters in our database and is very user friendly. User can search GQS sequences in the whole plant genomes, a particular gene or a user provided list of nucleotide sequences. Also entire dataset can be downloaded. User can also see GQSes present within the orthologous genes.

Q4. Which type of plant integrated in this Database?

PlantG4DB contains GQS data for 15 plants species as of now. We are in the process of adding data from more plants with their genome sequenced.

Q5. From where the data for databse generation has been taken?

The plant genome sequences were downloaded from their respective genome project websites and analysed for the presence of different types of GQSes. Further, the annotation was integrated using information from the corresponding genome gff files.

Q6. Can I download the above mentioned datasets?

Yes, user can easily download the complete data for different plant species from the “Download” tab in tabulated format. In addition, we have provided options in various pages to download the GQS data as per the search/filter parameters.

Q7. Are their any other tools integrated in the database?

Yes, we have integrated the QuadParser tool (http://www-shankar.ch.cam.ac.uk/quadparser.html) in the database (“Tool” tab) for prediction of GQSes in the given sequence.

Q8. Is this database freely available?

Yes, the database is an open source, freely accessible database available at the url: http://ccbb.jnu.ac.in/PlantG4DB/.
